Opa!
May 29th, 2004 | Food & DrinkHappiness is finding a forgotten bottle of retsina in your (meager) wine rack. Sadness is knowing that you will really enjoy it so much more if you let it chill in the fridge for awhile.
Retsina is a Greek white wine that my friend, um, The Greek has gotten me hooked on. It is a resinated wine, meaning it’s flavored with pine resin, which gives it a nice earthy sort of taste. Ideal with Greek food, but good just on it’s own as well.
Ok, I’m lousy at describing wine; go pick up a bottle and see for yourself. If “Liquor World” can carry three different labels, you can find one near you, too. My brand of choice is Kourtaki, which is from the Attica region; their website has a much nicer description of the wine than I’ve given here.
It’s been ten minutes… I bet that’s cold enough.
Update: did I just use the phrase “chill in the fridge”? Who am I?
